Introduction
The Chaplet of Divine Mercy was given by Our Lord to Saint Faustina Kowalska (1905–1938). Jesus asked that it be prayed especially at 3:00 PM — the Hour of Mercy — in remembrance of His Passion and death.
Opening Prayers
Begin with the Sign of the Cross, then pray an Our Father, Hail Mary, and the Apostles' Creed. Then pray: "O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You."
For Each of the Five Decades
On the large bead: "Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world." On each of the ten small beads: "For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world."
Closing — Pray Three Times
"Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world."
Promises of Jesus to Those Who Pray This Chaplet
"Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of death. Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My infinite mercy. I desire that the whole world know My infinite mercy. I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those who trust in My mercy." — Jesus to Saint Faustina, Diary #687
